The groundhog signals when spring will arrive. On February 2, the groundhog is said to wake up from hibernation. If the groundhog sees its shadow, it returns to the burrow for six more weeks of winter. If it doesn’t see its shadow, the groundhog stays outside because spring will arrive early.

Thunder and lightning storms happen more often in summer than any other season.

Autumn is another name for fall. Some people call the season fall because it is the time when leaves fall from the trees. Other people say the season is fall because it is the time when the sun falls below the equator.

Snow can fall even when the winter sky is clear. Ice crystals sometimes fall from clear skies when temperatures are in the single digits or colder.

No two snowflakes are alike. But all snowflakes have six sides.
